Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College and Research Centre, Chennai, hosted an observational visit for students of Panimalar College of Nursing on September 24, 2026, as part of their academic curriculum to provide practical exposure to the AYUSH healthcare systems, with a special focus on Siddha medicine. The visit included an orientation on the history, philosophy, fundamental principles, and preventive aspects of Siddha medicine, including the concept of Mukkutram. The students also visited the institutional herbal garden (Mooligai Vanam) to learn about medicinal plants, their therapeutic applications, and cultivation practices. They further gained clinical exposure through visits to the OPD and IPD, where they observed Siddha diagnostic approaches such as Naadi examination and various non-invasive therapeutic practices. An orientation at the Siddha pharmacy provided insights into traditional formulation preparation, quality control, safety practices, and contemporary research in herbal medicines. The visit concluded with an interactive knowledge-sharing session with physicians and faculty members, enabling the students to understand the complementary role of nursing care in holistic and traditional healthcare practices.
