The educational tour organized by Department of Gunapadam – Marunthiyal, on
19.08.2026 to 23.08.2026 . Maruthuvathavaraviyal aimed to enhance student practical knowledge of medicinal plant diversity, ecology and their natural habitats. The educational tour covered the forest areas of Kodaikanal, Papanasam, Courtallam, Gundaru, and the Kalakad–Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve. Students visited the Government Horticultural Ecological Park, Bryant Park Botanical Gardens, Siddhar Sabha, Gene Pool Conservation Farms, Kalakad Natural Reserves forest. During the field visits, students documented around 150 medicinal plants, including their vernacular names and traditional uses as crude drugs for various diseases.
