NSS

The National Service Scheme is an Indian Government sponsored Public service program conducted by The Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports of The Government of India popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year 1969. It is aimed at developing students’ personality through community service. NSS is a voluntary association of young people in college and Universities.

MOTTO: Not Me but You.

Our college unit consists of 100 members 50 from second professional and 50 from third professional.

NSS unit is actively functioning with the following schedule:

  • Regular activities of 120 hrs every year
  • Special camp activities 120 hrs (7 days) in nearby villages or city suburbs.

Our NSS unit has conducted various blood donation camps in our campus every year along with VHS, Chennai.

Our Regular Activities Comprises of:

  • Free Medical camps including free medicines and consultation in nearby villages and towns
  • Tree plantation program
  • Rallies for various social awareness themes in association with other social organizations.
  • Various disease awareness programs
  • Participation in National Health Programs

Special Camp comprises of

  • Free Medical Camp including free medicines and consultation
  • Free Eye camp with distribution of free Spectacles and surgery
  • Personality development programs
  • Various cultural programs to create awareness of diseases (both communicable and non communicable) to common man and also for school children
  • Social Services to the needy people.


On account of World Glaucoma week,NSS unit of Sri Sairam siddha Medical college organized a CME on Eye diseases-CATARACT,AND GLAUCOMA in SSR hall today 22-3-22(Tuesday).
